Why Are Universities Liable for  Sexual Assault?

Under Title IX, universities, colleges, and other educational institutions must take reasonable and adequate steps to protect students from sex-based discrimination, which includes sexual assault and abuse. If a student is sexually assaulted on campus, it is fair to argue that the university or college failed to uphold its obligations under Title IX, which can be interpreted as liability. For this reason, in most campus sexual assault lawsuits, including the Nassar and Anderson cases our attorneys have won in the past, the defendants are the sexual offender and the educational institution that employed, harbored, enabled, or otherwise failed to stop them.

Damages in a Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Financial compensation cannot undo the harm inflicted by sexual assault.
