Suspended Texas Doctor Arrested on Four Counts of Sexual Assault

Last month, Texas physician, Dr. Kenneth Donald Haygood, 54, was arrested on 3 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of aggravated sexual assault of a child after a detailed investigation by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) found evidence supporting the allegations of sexual assault and misconduct brought forth by 4 women.

In June 2023, the Texas Medical Board restricted Haygood’s medical license after receiving complaints of inappropriate misconduct. He was permitted to continue practicing on the condition that he was not allowed to see or treat female patients.

Four months later, the Board suspended Haygood’s license after additional complaints and an investigation revealed that he had violated the Board’s decision.

The allegations that led to the family practitioner’s arrest were brought forth when a woman heard about Hayood’s suspension and reported her alleged experience in 2007, when she was 8 years old. She had reportedly presented to Haygood’s family practice for a thyroid check with her mother, who was called out of the room by a staff member at which point Haygood allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Another woman reported that Haygood had allegedly sexually assaulted her in 2018, when he inappropriately touched her during a massage meant to relieve her sciatica. She filed a police report at that time, and later corroborated the details with (MFCU) investigators, additionally alleging that Haygood had performed multiple medically unnecessary pelvic exams as well.

One victim reported alleged inappropriate touching that she had not consented to and another alleged that Haygood had groomed her and sexually assaulted her over the course of 13 visits in three months after reportedly presenting his assaults as legitimate medical practices.

Haygood was arrested February 13, 2024 following the findings of the MFCU inquiry and is being held in jail.
